====== Poster Printing ====== [[https://secure.esm.psu.edu/printing | Printing Request Form]] If your poster is a candidate for mounting in the halls of the EESB building, use dimensions of 36 by 48 inches. Size should be no larger than 44 inches on any dimension, with a 1/2" margin on poster board (roll paper can be borderless). Our most popular paper sizes are 36 and 44 inches wide, so for example, a 36x48 inch poster will be printed on 36 inch paper. Note especially that we stock 36” and 44” paper. Other size posters will need to be manually trimmed. If posters are to be framed in the EES Building, they must be 36”x48” with a 2” margin. Note that **ESM has no mounting capabilities**, so we cannot dry mount, spray mount or otherwise afix posters to foam core, etc. Graphics should be high resolution, especially the Penn State Mark. See the links below for logos. As a general rule, graphics and illustrations should "look good" at a magnification of 200% on a computer screen. Graphics and logos designed for web sites are not acceptable. Please retain the aspect ratio of all university marks. That is, if the original image is 400x400 pixels, resize to 200x200 pixels, not 200x150. ===== Acceptable file formats ===== * Adobe Acrobat (embed all fonts) - .pdf * Adobe InDesign (package with all fonts) - .indd * Adobe Photoshop - all formats .psd, etc. * Adobe Illustrator - all formats .ai, .eps, etc. * Graphics formats at 300-600dpi - .jpg, .tiff, .psd * Microsoft Powerpoint - .ppt * Microsoft Publisher - .pub * Documents created in OpenOffice and other open source applications may not be suitable. ===== File Transfer Methods ===== * Upload files via https://secure.esm.psu.edu/printing * Please **refrain from using email to send posters**--they will be rejected * CD/DVD or USB drives are acceptable only with prior arrangement if upload fails. The form at https://secure.esm.psu.edu/printing must still be completed. ===== Solutions for Common Problems ===== * Use high-resolution or scalable art (.ai, .eps, .wmf formats are scalable) and do not use images copied from web sites. * View your poster at 200% to check for fuzziness or pixelization. If it is fuzzy at 200%, it will be fuzzy when printed. * Take care not to distort the relative height and width of images. i.e. "squashed" images. Make sure that any resized images are resized proportionally. If the original file is 400x400 pizels, resize to 200x200, not 200x150 pixels. * If submitting via pdf, embed all fonts. If using other applications, use "standard" fonts and typefaces. ===== Sample Hi-Res Logos and Marks ===== The ESM "ligature" is now deprecated, as is the "old" Penn State Mark. The [[http://sites.esm.psu.edu/media/|ESM media archive]] has current logos and marks suitable for posters and other media.
